Gardaí are investigating a single-vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the R173 at Ballymascanlon, Dundalk, Co Louth, this morning. 

This crash happened on the main Dundalk to Carlingford road at approximately 7.45am.

The male driver of a lorry was fatally injured when his vehicle went out of control.

He was 48-year-old Michael Kelly from Grange Drive, Muirhevnamore, Dundalk, Co Louth. No one else was in the vehicle.

The dead man was removed to Louth County Hospital.

Gardaí are at the scene and diversions are in place. The road will be closed until further notice.
