Two die after Offaly & Antrim crashes

Two women have died following road accidents in Co Offaly and Co Antrim.

A woman is her 40s has been killed and her husband seriously injured in a road accident near Kilcormac in Co Offaly.

It is understood the couple had been out walking near a school on the Tullamore road into the town when they were struck by a car around 9.15am this morning.

The man, also in his 40s, is being treated for his injuries at the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore.

Gardaí investigating the accident say a motorist is helping them with their inquiries.

Separately, a woman has died in hospital after being injured in a road accident in Co Antrim last Monday.

82-year-old Emma McFarland from Rathvarna Avenue, Lisburn, was struck by a Land Rover in Smithfield Square, Lisburn, died from her injuries in hospital this morning.

The PSNI has appealed for witnesses.

In Kilkenny, seven people have been taken to hospital following a multi-vehicle crash on the N10, about 12km outside the city.

It is understood six vehicles were involved in the incident at Ennisnag, 3km outside Stoneyford, shortly after 2pm this afternoon.
