Obama urges DUP to commit to power-sharing

US presidential hopeful Barack Obama has urged Reverend Ian Paisley's Democratic Unionists to commit themselves to power sharing in Northern Ireland after the 7 March Assembly Election.

In his first policy statement on Northern Ireland, the Illinois Senator, who is bidding to become the first black president of the United States, welcomed Sinn Féin's endorsement of the PSNI.

And Mr Obama urged the DUP to seize the opportunity to form a power-sharing executive.
