It has been announced that Stringfellows Lap dancing club on Parnell Street, Dublin, has closed down.
It ceased trading this afternoon citing it was no longer in a position to meet its financial obligations.
Stringfellows opened on 1 February this year.
The club had been opposed by locals from the outset.
The Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin has welcomed the closure of the club.
Councillor Aodhan Ó Riordain said the news would be well received in the local area.
He said Parnell Street is a residential area and was never suitable for a club of this nature.
