A 36-year-old county Mayo farmer has been gored to death by a bull on his farm near Ballyhaunis in Co Mayo.
John Ryan of Derrylahan was working on his farm this morning when he was attacked and fatally injured by the bull.
The accident happened about 10am. His wife and a neighbour became concerned when he did not return and found his body in the field.
He was taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar where a post mortem examination is to be held. Gardaí are investigating the incident.
The dead man is survived by his wife and two young children.
