DPP supportive of case law permanency

The Director of Public Prosecutions, James Hamilton, has said he would support the composition of the Court of Criminal Appeal being put on a more permament basis.

Currently, the three-judge court is made up of one Supreme Court judge and two High Court judges selected on a rotating basis.

Mr Hamilton told the 7th annual National Prosecutors Conference in Dublin this morning that this was causing problems for appelate courts which could not develop a consistent body of case law.
