Board members earned €7.7m in fees

It has emerged that 33 part-time members of the Refugee Appeals Tribunal earned €7.7m in fees during the last five years.

One member of the board received more than €780,000 during this period.

The figures have been released to the Fine Gael Spokesman on Justice, Jim O'Keeffe, though a Parliamentary question.

Deputy O'Keeffe said the figures confirm the need for urgent reform of the Tribunal.
