Feakle - Boy dies in tragic accident

The four-year-old boy who died while climbing out a school window in Co Clare yesterday has been named as Karl Fox.

The boy was unknowingly locked into his local school in Feakle. He is believed to have died after his hooded jacket got caught in a window frame as he tried to get outside.

Gardaí believe the junior infant pupil's death was a tragic accident.

His body was found at around 4.30pm yesterday after he had been reported missing.

The discovery was made by his 11-year-old brother who had been playing football with him in the vicinity of the school some time earlier.

Karl was taken to Ennis General Hospital but was pronounced dead. His body has now been taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick and the State Pathologist's office has been notified.

It is likely a post mortem examination will be carried out today to establish exactly how the young boy died.
