Airline pioneer Freddie Laker dies at 83

The British businessman who revolutionised the airline industry, Sir Freddie Laker, has died at the age of 83.

His Skytrain planes offered cheap fares between London and New York in the late 1970s, forcing other airlines to drop their prices.

However, his company went bust in 1982 owing more than £250 million.
