Palestinian politicians slam Israeli decision

Palestinian politicians have condemned the Israeli cabinet's decision to try to prevent Hamas from taking part in parliament elections.

Palestinian politicians have condemned the Israeli cabinet's decision to try to prevent the militant group, Hamas, from taking part in Palestinian parliament elections.

The elections will take place in east Jerusalem later this month. 

Israel said it would allow voting in the area to go ahead but is refusing to let Hamas campaign or let its candidates stand.

East Jerusalem has been under Israeli occupation since 1967.
