Meath County Council has warned lorry drivers who are boycotting the new M4 toll road that it may introduce emergency by-laws.

The council said it would introduce the move, which would restrict access to the town of Enfield, if vehicle owners insist on driving through the village instead of using a nearby relief road which is toll-free.

Residents in Enfield are unhappy because the new M4 has not removed trucks from the town.
