Dublin commuters facing bus strike

Dublin could face a bus strike in the coming weeks after bus drivers voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action over proposed cuts in overtime.
EU legislation restricts the working week to 48 hours, which means that up to a fifth of Dublin Bus drivers face a drop in salary as they will no longer be able to do as much overtime.
Dublin Bus says it is implementing the law and is not responsible for compensating workers for the resulting drop in income.

The NBRU General Secretary, Liam Tobin, said that the union had entered talks to genuinely help the company meet its objectives and, at the same time, minimise the impact on the earning potential of members.
