The deputy leader of Al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahri, has claimed responsibility for the 7 July attacks in London in which 52 people were killed.
In a videotaped message aired on the Arab television station Al-Jazeera this evening, Mr Zawahri said that al-Qaeda had the ‘honour’ of carrying out the attacks.
Osama Bin Laden's second-in-command had previously praised the bombings and blamed them on the UK's foreign policy.
However, this is the first time he claimed direct responsibility for the attacks.
