Eight die in apartment block fire in Berlin

German officials say a fire in an apartment block in Berlin has killed eight people, including five children.

The fire broke out in the stairwell of the five-storey building in the German capital's central Moabit district overnight.

Officials cited arson as the cause of the fire, which left over 50 people injured.

A fire brigade spokesman said the death toll was the second highest in a fire in Berlin since World War II.
