The chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Richard Myers, visited Dublin today.
General Myers joined his Irish counterpart, Lieutenant-General Jim Sreenan, at a wreath-laying ceremony at the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham.
General Myers later attended a display of equipment at McKee Barracks in Dublin.
General Myers presence in Dublin was described as a standard, protocol visit. He has also been visiting other European cities.
A small group of anti-war activists held a demonstration at the gates of the Phoenix Park.
