Many South African’s are staying away from work as part of a nationwide strike.
Tens of thousands of workers have been demonstrating on the streets of South Africa's largest city, Johannesburg, to vent their anger over poverty and joblessness.
The stoppage was caused by the largest union grouping, the Congress of South African Trade Unions.
Official figures say one out of every four South Africans of working age is without a job but some estimates put the real number much higher.
