DNA tests have proved a Sri Lankan couple's claim that a baby who survived December's tsunamis is their child.
Judge M.P. Moahaidein said the test results showed that the
couple were the parents of the four-month-old boy.
A court ordered the tests after media reports that nine mothers who lost babies in the December 26 tsunamis that killed nearly 31,000 people were claiming the baby.
The reports were later dismissed.
Baby Abilash will be reunited with his mother Junita Jeyarajah
and his father Murugpillai Jeyarajah in court next Wednesday.
The baby was found under a pile of garbage by a neighbour after
the tsunamis that killed 31,000 people in Sri Lanka and battered
most of the island's coastline.
He was nicknamed 'Baby 81' because he was the 81st patient admitted to the hospital in Kalmunai after the destruction.
