Meetings have been taking place in London and Belfast aimed at restoring devolved government in Northern Ireland.
A Sinn Féin delegation led by Gerry Adams spent more than two hours at Downing Street this morning in discussions with British Prime Minister Tony Blair and PSNI Chief Constable Hugh Orde.
Afterwards Mr Adams said they had discussed demilitarisation but did not get into a discussion on policing.
The Sinn Féin President said, 'There was good work done today, let's continue to do the good work'.
He added that if the DUP had the political will to reach an agreement, a deal would not be a matter of if, but when.
DUP in meeting with de Chastelain
A parallel meeting has also taken place in Belfast between the DUP leader, Ian Paisley, and the head of the decommissioning commission, General John de Chastelain.
Afterwards, the DUP leader said it had been a good meeting but that the issue of decommissioning had not yet been finally settled.
General de Chastelain's explanation of what the IRA did last autumn influenced the Ulster Unionist leader, David Trimble, to pull back from an agreement with Sinn Féin.
The DUP is checking out the contentious components of the British and Irish governments' proposed agreement.
