The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that an Irishman has been killed in a bus crash in Peru today.
The department says it is offering consular assistance through the Irish Embassy in Mexico and the Honorary Consul in Peru.
The crash happened when the bus plunged into a gorge near Cuzco after the driver lost control on a bridge in a river valley.
As well as the Irishman, five Peruvians were killed. Police said 43 people were injured, including tourists from Britain, France and Israel.
