Explosion reported at Russian pipeline

It is reported that there has been an explosion at a pipeline in southern Russia used to export oil from Azerbaijan, causing a fire and sending tonnes of crude spewing out.

It is reported that there has been an explosion at a pipeline in southern Russia used to export oil from Azerbaijan, causing a fire and sending tonnes of crude oil spewing out.

The explosion occurred in the southern Russian region of Dagestan, which borders Chechnya. 

About two and a half million tonnes of Azeri oil is pumped through the pipeline every year to a Russian Black Sea port and then shipped to Western markets.
