France uses Ireland's e-vote system
Monday, 16 February 2004 23:28The electronic voting system being used in Ireland has been selected for use in a number of electoral areas in France, according to the company operating it.
The Nedap/Powervote system is to be used in local elections in Brest in March, and will be extended to a number of other constituencies for the European Parliament elections in June.
Managing Director of Powervote UK, Roy Loudon, claimed the French decision followed an extended evaluation process involving international test institutes.

The Government's plans to use the system nationwide in June's local and European elections have led to controversy, with security concerns being raised by a number of computer experts.
