Cyprus reunification may now be possible

Talks which could lead to the reunification of Cyprus are to take place in Nicosia next week.

This follows what is being viewed as a significant breakthrouigh during negotiations at the United Nations in New York.

The Greek and Turkish leaders - Tassos Papadopoulos and Rauf Denktash - reached an agreement which should clear the way for a referndum before Cyprus officially becomes an EU member of 1 May.

They agreed to let the UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, finalise the referendum terms.
