The Pope has appealed for reconciliation between Christians, Jews and Muslims to work together against what he called 'never-ending wars' in the world.

The Pope has appealed for reconciliation between Christians, Jews and Muslims to work together against what he called 'never-ending wars' in the world.

Pope John Paul II was speaking before an audience at an event in Vatican city.

The Concert for Reconciliation was attended by religious dignitaries from around the world, including the two chief rabbis of Israel and leading Muslim clerics.

In his address, the Pope said relations between the three religions had been marked by 'light and darkness' and had known painful moments.
