Hundreds of Islamic extremists are reported to have clashed with a pro-reform student gathering at a university in the Iranian capital for the second consecutive day.
There are reports that a number of students were slightly hurt in the confrontation between the students at Tehran's Sharif university.
At least 5,000 students had gathered there for protests demanding greater freedom of speech, defying warnings of a crackdown.
Student demonstrations began on 9 November following the sentencing to death for blasphemy of pro-reform academic, Hashem Aghajari.
Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, yesterday ordered the hardline-controlled judiciary to revise the ruling.
