Aer Lingus cancels all flights on Tuesday due to strike n

Aer Lingus says that it will be unable to operate any services this Tuesday because of strike notice served on the company by IMPACT, the union representing 1000 of its cabin crew. The 200 daily flights on Tuesday have now been cancelled. Aer Lingus have set up a help line for customers who hold reservations for Tuesday's flights which will be open from 7.30 on Monday morning. The number is 1-800-40-40-00.

Meanwhile, Aer Lingus passengers at Dublin Airport faced up to three-hour flight delays as a result of a work stoppage by the company's baggage handlers in a row over pay. The two-hour protest action ended at around 8.30am. Afterwards, many early morning flights were delayed by up to two and a half hours. Aer Lingus was advising passengers to check in at their scheduled times.

The 250 or so handlers, members of SIPTU, staged their protest as part of their ongoing pay dispute against the airline. The disruption at the airport is expected to worsen tomorrow with both the catering staff and the baggage handlers likely to stage work stoppages. A spokesperson for Aer Lingus said that the action could only harm their customers, the business and its staff. The spokesperson also apologised to customers for the disruption.
