An Irishman who worked at a GAA grounds in the midlands has been arrested in the United States in connection with an investigation of sexual offences which are alleged to have taken place between 2004 and 2009. 

The man, who left the country in 2013, was arrested earlier this week by US Homeland Security, with assistance from Guilderland police.

The man, who is currently in custody, appeared in court yesterday.

US news outlets are reporting that he is facing an extradition hearing next Friday, 25 January.
