A man has been arrested after a post office robbery in Ardagh, Co Longford this afternoon.
It is understood the man threatened staff with a knife and drove away from the scene in a vehicle with an amount of cash.
The alarm was raised and he was subsequently followed by gardaí.
It is understood the vehicle crashed near Edgeworthstown, Co Longford and the man was taken into custody.
