An investigation is under way after a medical centre on the outskirts of Longford town was daubed with anti-abortion graffiti overnight.
The incident happened at a doctor's clinic near the Dublin Road in the town.
The graffiti is critical of Government policy on abortion and critical of the media.
The writing was sprayed on with black and white paint on the front of the building.
Fianna Fáil councillor Joe Flaherty described the graffiti as disturbing.
He said people must be allowed access abortion services in a sympathetic and timely manner.
Speaking on RTÉ's News at One, Mr Flaherty said he did not believe the incident was a Longford issue, but a national one.
He described the vandalism of as an act of "a lone wolf" and said it was also unfair on everybody who uses the medical clinic involved.
The vandalism was also criticised by members of the business community.
Most of the graffiti has now been removed from the glass windows.
The doctor who operates a GP service in the area is on holidays and the clinic said they would not be issuing any comment on this morning's incident.
