He was charged at a garda station in the midlands at 10.15am.

In court this evening, gardaí applied for the accused man to be remanded in custody to appear again in the Central Criminal Court.

Gardaí objected to bail being granted after an application was made.

Judge Kevin Kilraine refused the bail application and sent the accused forward for trial to the present sittings of the Central Criminal Court.

The judge also accepted an application from the State to remand the man in custody to appear at a sitting of a circuit court in the midlands on 30 April, where he will face some of the charges in this case.
