Over 50 protesters have gathered outside a Health Service Executive long-term psychiatric facility in Co Roscommon in a bid to stop the transfer of residents to an alternative facility at a nursing home nearby.
The protest group is made up of relatives and friends of residents who have been in the Rosalie Unit in Castlerea for more than ten years and are to be transferred to alternative care in nursing homes after the HSE carried out a medical review of the facility.
The HSE said only one resident will be moved today and this is a planned discharge.
No date has been scheduled yet for the remaining residents transfer.
