The remains of the Irishman who died in an Ethiopian Airlines crash earlier this year have been recovered in Ethiopia.

Micheál Ryan, from Lahinch, Co Clare was one of 157 people who died when the Boeing 737 Max crashed minutes after take-off en route from Addis Ababa in Ethiopia to Nairobi, Kenya on 10 March.

Mr Ryan, a father of two, died two weeks before his 40th birthday.

It is understood his family was notified in recent weeks about the recovery of his remains and they will be returned to Ireland next Tuesday.

The coffin will be met at Dublin Airport by an official from the Government and a representative of the UN World Food Programme.

His remains will be then taken to his native Lahinch for a private burial.
