The Young Offenders leads the way as this year's Irish Film and Television Award nominations are announced, with the RTÉ2 series shortlisted in seven categories.
The comedy, which was adapted from a film into a TV series this year, is nominated for Best Comedy, Male Performance for star Chris Walley, Female Performance for Hillary Rose, Director Comedy/Soap and Writer Comedy/Soap for Peter Foott, as well as nods in the Sound Television and Camera Television categories.
Another breakout comedy success story Derry Girls is also well represented, competing against The Young Offenders, Bridget & Eamon and Mrs Brown's Boys in the Best Comedy category.
The series, which aired on Channel 4, earned three further nominations; Male Performance for Tommy Tiernan, Female Performance for Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Writer Comedy/Soap for Lisa McGee.
Can't Cope Won't Cope's return to RTÉ2 has seen the show nominated in four categories; Female Performance for Seana Kerslake, Writer Comedy/Soap for Stephanie Preissner, Director Comedy/Soap for Cathy Brady and in the Sound Television category.
Alongside his nomination for Male Performance in Derry Girls, The Tommy Tiernan Show is in contention for the Entertainment category. Tiernan's show will compete with Dancing with the Stars, Ireland's Got Talent and Brendan O'Connor's Cutting Edge for the award.
In the Reality and Constructed Reality takes, First Dates Ireland will go up against Gogglebox Ireland, Painting the Nation and Francis Brennan's Grand Vietnamese Tour.
IFTA will announce the new host for the Television Awards Ceremony, and full ceremony details, on Friday May 11.
