Arun's Bhaji Indian root veg fritter, ham hock and rich curry sauce

Arun's Bhaji Indian root veg fritter and ham hock

My Dad would often make us Pakora or bhaji snacks serving with dollops of red sauce. Here I've combined both and come up with what is to me, a wonderfully nostalgic comfort supper perfect for the colder evenings. Using simple, tasty ingredients, this is a great way to help save the pennies. Make your curry sauce and cook a ham hock ahead of time, so only the bhaji is cooked fresh to …

Arun Kapil's aloo tikki chole chaat: Today

This is a brilliant and quirky dish to have as a snack at drinks parties and get-togethers or to repeat a few times and sate the most hearty of hungers. A typical dish from the street food wallahs of Delhi, North India, I most recently bought (a couple!) whilst wandering around the Manek Chowk district one night in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, to the north west of India. It's a bowl of potato cakes, spicy gravy and crunchy bits. 'Aloo tikki' potato cakes in a spicy, tomatoey 'chole' chickpea gravy with a whole array of 'chaat' sprinkles to freshen, brighten and garnish …

Arun's 'no fuss' upside-down pineapple cake

A really simple recipe guaranteed to win the hearts of all dessert lovers. I add a little spice for interest, serve with ice-cream and pouring cream for indulgence and green herbs for a zingy freshness. Yum!

Arun's creamy Bombay potato soup with herbs: Today

This is a lovely and very simple way to make an intriguing potato soup; the addition of the mild, fragrant spices really adds that extra special 'comfort' factor. A simple, must try quick supper, I like to serve it with garlic naan – enjoy!
