Tóibín, Niall

Cork born Irish actor and comedian Niall Tóibin had a career spanning almost seventy years appearing on radio, TV, cinema and stage.

Niall Tóibín was an actor, comedian and presenter. He had many roles as an actor in television programmes throughout the years as well as on the big screen in films such as Poitín Ryan's Daughter, The Ballroom of Romance, Far and Away and Veronica Guerin. Among his more notable television appearances were roles in Bracken, The Irish RM,  Ballykissangel and The Clinic. 

In theatre he is probably best rememebered for his depiction of Brendan Behan in 'Borstal Boy'.

Niall Tóibín was a native Irish language speaker and advocate for the language throughout his career and life.  

In 2011, he received the Irish Film and Television Academy's (IFTA) Lifetime Achievement Award and became an honourary IFTA lifetime member.
