The plight of some elderly people living alone in rural Ireland.
An extract from the RTÉ agricultural series 'On the Land'. Reporter Ted Nealon introduces the findings of a report on County Offaly which found 811 elderly people living alone in the county.
Three elderly men talk to Nealon. They claim not to be hungry, lonely or cold. Jack only has one eye and does not have a radio. John lives alone and listens to the radio and prays all day. Doctor Anthony Reeves and local nurse Cathleen O'Hara discuss the sad situation.
