President Kennedy receives the freedom of Limerick.
Limerick Mayor Frances Condell welcomes President Kennedy in an amusing speech, the best-delivered of all the local authority speakers during the Presidential visit. She also makes a claim over him on behalf of the women of Limerick as the Fitzgerald name hails from there.
"We the women of Limerick and county feel that we have a special claim. The Fitzgerald."
Condell expresses admiration for other members of the Kennedy clan as well as the first lady Jackie, describing her as, "dear to our hearts".
The lady mayor concludes by giving President Kennedy the freedom of the Limerick city stating "I declare you a free man of the city of Limerick. In other words, Limerick is yours".
