Letters to the RTV Guide giving feedback on radio and television coverage of President Kennedy's visit.
Letters poured in to the RTV Guide’s Letterbox section after the president’s visit had ended, giving feedback on Radio Éireann and Telefís Éireann’s coverage of the event. A selection of them was published on 12 July 1963 and is presented here.
The viewers and listeners were very impressed with the coverage, offering their congratulations and thanks. The only complaint is that the high umbrellas at the garden party in Áras an Uachtaráin prevented good pictures being obtained.

'The RTV Guide' provided listings of television and radio programmes. The first edition was published on 1 December 1961. 'Letterbox' was the letters page which gave television and radio audiences an opportunity to give feedback on programmes. In July 1966 the magazine changed name to become 'The RTÉ Guide' and is still published on a weekly basis. This issue was published on 12 July 1963. The letters presented here were on page 2. |
