A look at the reputation of Irish men when it comes to love, romance and romantic gestures on Valentine's Day.
RTÉ Radio producer, Ian Lee, delves into the RTÉ Archives and finds songs and stories of Valentine's Day past.
Ian Lee describes how Irish men don't have a great name when it comes to romance. However, Lee argues that while the romance may not be there, Irish men know what they want from a relationship and marriage.
From Jim Fahy's programme 'Looking West', a clip on the importance of "machinery ownership", courting, and the influence of the parish priest on love and romance.
This clip includes a rendition of Brian O'Rourke's 'Chantal du Champignon', the story of a middle-aged Irish man who falls in love with a young French woman.
