Students from Queen's University Belfast have their civil rights march halted by police.

Confronted by the police cordon, the students must decide what to do. Ciarán McKeown outlines the alternatives to the protesters. McKeown addresses the student protestors through a megaphone but is heckled throughout.

Students are pictured gesturing with one arm in the air and chanting at the line of police.

Fred Taggart, a Protestant student who signed the application to the police to hold a march, addresses the protestors. Taggart points out that they have achieved what they set out to do and in the interests of avoiding violence urges them to return to the Queens University campus. Taggart points out to the crowd that

Civil liberty will not be served by mob rule.
