The Sea Scout of the Year award is presented on board the Irish Navy vessel the LÉ Grainne.

Over the bank holiday weekend the Irish Navy vessel the LÉ Gráinne is docked at Arklow port in County Wicklow. Captain Lieutenant Daire Brunicardi gives the 9th Wicklow Sea Scouts the opportunity to go aboard. He is happy,

To let the Arklow troop get a firsthand feel of such vital places as the gun and the wheelhouse.

This is a special event for the Arklow troop and for Jimmy Myler in particular, as he is awarded the accolade of Sea Scout of the year.

An honour won on points for general behaviour and general Sea Scout skills.
