Tomato growers appeal for help after poor weather impacts their business.

Shoppers have been getting great value with tomotoes selling at bargain prices. Tomoato growers though are struggling. Bad weather in spring meant that the tomato crop was late and a poor summer has meant that people have not been eating salads. Sharp rise in heating oil prices also put pressure on growers. Tomato growers are claing they had losses of up to £8,000 per acre under glass this year.

The Tomato Growers Association calls on the governement for a fuel subsidy, a supply of working capital and a glass house demolition grant.
