St Finian's National School pupils have been learning about the Easter Rising through the dramatic arts.
Children from First to Sixth Class in St Finian's National School in Finglas have been bringing their families back to 1916 to experience the events of the Easter Rising.
The young people enact the drama, excitement and bravery of those who took part in the rebellion, as well as the ordinary Dublin people who were caught up in the action.
Claire Reilly, drama teacher at St Finian’s explains how the production has five different plays that take place simultaneously, culminating in Sackville Street where the audience witness the reading of the Proclamation of Independence.
Using improvisation, mime and music the students bring to life the heroes, villains and victims of our past.
Commemorating the Easter Rising in this way provided one student with the opportunity to think about the personal cost.
People fought and died for Ireland.
There is audience participation and lots of singing and dancing, but also quiet time to remember all of those who died, and reflect on the events of 1916.
