A new branch of the Georgian Society has been established in Ramelton, County Donegal.

Ramelton has been home to various different groups of people over the centuries, but it grew in importance during the seventeenth century with its strategic point on the river Lennon at the entrance to the Fanad Peninsula.

The expansion of the linen trade in the eighteenth century resulted in the construction of many fine buildings, which the newly established Ramelton Georgian Society plan to restore.

First on the list is the reconstruction of an old Georgian house in The Mall. One section of the building will be rented to pay for building works, while a craft shop will occupy another. The aim is to preserve,

The charming character of Ramelton.
