Addressing the Dublin Chamber of Commerce Taoiseach Liam Cosgrave defends government spending.
As public expenditure has risen through the years, the government and local authorities are now spending £2 out of every £3 pounds that the country produces. Taoiseach Liam Cosgrave highlights the growth in government expenditure as a cause for concern and asks the question,

Liam Cosgrave said that he has listened to criticisms of government spending from people who offer no solutions and do not specify where cuts could be made.
