Professional musicians visit schools to bring classical music and orchestra instruments to students.
Eilish MacGabhann is head of the Music In Schools programme run by the Music Association of Ireland.
It provides music education for young people with visits by professional musicians to secondary schools in every county in Ireland.
Some of Ireland's most famous musicians are involved in this scheme, such as pianist Veronica McSweeney, tenor Frank Patterson and violinist Geraldine O’Grady.
Today the Presentation Convent in Waterford will listen to a performance by cellist Moya O’Grady and concert harpist Denise Kelly, who believes that these informal concerts give young people the opportunity to meet working musicians.
She would like to see the programme developed so that students could participate in workshops and try out new instruments.
'Anything Goes' broadcast on 14 December 1985. The presenter is Aonghus McAnally.
'Anything Goes’ was a young people’s programme on RTÉ Television which went out on Saturday mornings. Presented by Aonghus McAnally, Kathy Parke, Dave Heffernan, Mary FitzGerald and Mary Frances Calayco, it was first broadcast on 4 October 1980 and continued for 6 years.
