Ceremony honours Dick McKee, Peadar Clancy and Conor Clune killed in 1920 while in British custody.
On 20 November 1920, British forces arrested Brigadier Dick McKee, Vice-Brigadier Peadar Clancy and Volunteer Conor Clune in Dublin city. The three men were killed at Dublin Castle on 21 November 1920.
On the morning of Sunday, 21 November 1920, in an operation planned by Michael Collins, the IRA killed members of the British intelligence services at a number of south Dublin city locations.
That afternoon, 14 people were killed at Croke Park by the Royal Irish Constabulary and the British military. The day became known as Bloody Sunday.
The Dublin Brigade Council of the Old IRA holds the annual commemoration ceremonies in honour of Brigadier Dick McKee, Vice-Brigadier Peadar Clancy and Volunteer Conor Clune. The requiem mass is celebrated in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity at Dublin Castle. In attendance are President Éamon de Valera and Taoiseach Seán Lemass.
Following mass, honours are rendered in the Lower Castle, where three volleys are fired. The No 1 Army Band performs 'The Last Post'.
