Captain Lionel Leslie hopes to catch the Lough Fadda monster in Connemara.

Captain Lionel Leslie received a letter from the Rector of Clifden, detailing sighting of the Lough Fadda Monster in Connemara, County Galway. Could this be Ireland's answer to the Loch Ness monster?

Hearsay and eyewitness accounts proved so compelling that Captain Lionel Leslie had to visit Lough Fadda.

From what I've seen myself, I am completely convinced.

He thinks local people are gradually becoming convinced there is a monster in Lough Fadda, but,

When I arrived there, I think they thought I was a lunatic.

Along with the Lough Ness Phenomena Investigation Bureau, Captain Lionel Leslie has spent four years looking for Nessie in the Scottish Loch.

I've had a glimpse of a portion of it, just a small bit of dome-like object which came up and moved along the surface for a few seconds.

He is adamant that what he saw could not have been an otter, seal or eel. He believes the Lough Fadda Monster resembles a Plesiosaurus, a large marine reptile that lived during the Early Jurassic period.

At Lough Fadda, Captain Lionel Leslie attempted to blast the monster out of the water with explosives. He thinks the creature was disturbed but,

There was so much water that I couldn't see clearly.

Another attempt will be made to catch the Lough Fadda monster using a large net and tranquilliser darts.

Then we can haul it up and examine it at our leisure.
