Focus Point a new centre for homeless people set up by Sister Stanislaus Kennedy opens in Dublin.

Focus Point (now Focus Ireland) a centre for homeless people opens in Eustace Street in the Temple Bar area of Dublin city centre. The centre grew out of a research project conducted by its director, Sister Stanislaus Kennedy.

Through her research, Sister Stan realised the importance of involving people who are homeless, or have been directly affected by homelessness, in the development of services.

Focus Point is predominantly a day centre, catering to people of all ages, but primarily women, with some services only available to women. There is limited accommodation for two to three women.

Focus Point offers advice, information, advocacy and help with finding a home, as well as a warm, welcoming place to meet and have a low cost meal. The coordinator of the centre is Rachel Collier.
