Kilsheelan in County Tipperary is named Ireland's tidiest village.

Situated on the north bank of the river Suir on the busy road between Clonmel and Carrick on Suir, Kilsheelan has a population of approximately two hundred people.

Kilsheelan entered the Tidy Towns Competition for the first time in 1964 and since then the local community has made a concerted effort to improve the village's appearance.

The hard work has paid off with the adjudicators awarding the highest points possible to Kilsheelan, commending its clean and crisp appearance.

The judging panel also praised the local Tidy Towns committee for making the most of the village’s

Superb natural setting and simple architecture.
