Commemoration ceremonies take place in Cork for Terence MacSwiney and Tomas Mac Curtain.
A colour party leads a parade to remember former Lord Mayors of Cork, Terence MacSwiney and Tomás Mac Curtain.
Terence MacSwiney died on 25 October 1920 after 74 days on hunger strike. Tomás Mac Curtain was shot dead by British forces on 20 March 1920. Both were members of Sinn Féin and of the Cork city Irish Volunteers.
Taking part in the commemoration were representatives from the Defence Forces, Navy, Gardaí and University College Cork, the Civil Defence, St John's Ambulance Brigade, the Red Cross and trade unions.
The Band of the Southern Command play as Lord Mayor of Cork Alderman Pearse Leahy lays a wreath at the Republican plot in St Finbar's Cemetery.
Veterans from the ranks of the Old IRA (Irish Republican Army) and Old Fianna are also present.
